The Original IronBender

Before getting into who we are, I want to tell you about the original IronBender. His name was Jack Covert I and he was my grandfather. He was a machinest and a general fabricator. He did everything from ornamental iron working (hence the name IronBender), made wood splitters, walnut de-shellers, the works. He had a really nice shop on his property in Chico, CA that was fully equiped with welders, a milling machine, lathes, a shaper, you name it. If he needed something he made it, if something broke, he fixed it. He was the person that introduced me to fabrication. I was named after him and always looked up to him as a kid, needless to say I miss him very much.

The Beginning

Jack and Joe first met on a trip down to Mexico to support a couple of Early Bronco's that were racing the Baja 1000. It was a very long week and they had a lot of time to get to know eachother. They put many long hours in working elbow to elbow and discovered they worked pretty well together. At some point the concept of going into business together came up and a partnership was formed. They worked quickly and brought a product that had been stuck on paper for quite a while to market (Gear Banger). After a meeting with Jim of Wild Horses they were off and running. The rest, as they say, is (will be) history.

Joe Lickey

An important part of the IronBender team is Joe Lickey. Joe brings to the team experience in the business world as he runs Denny's Electric, a well established electrical contracting business in Northern California. Joe is also a well equiped and experienced fabricator. Combine that with his extensive contacts in the manufacturing world and that makes Joe a corner stone of the team. Email Joe

Jack Covert (IronBenderII)

Jack comes from a family of machinests, fabricators and millwrights. His grandfather (IronBender) worked in several industries including aeronautical as a machinest. His father (Tim Covert) was a machinest in the Navy and has worked as a millwright and a machinest ever since. So Jack has been around metal working and machinery all his life. He took some engineering courses in college, just enough to make him dangerous. He grew up in a rural part of California where offroading was a popular passtime. He sold his Toyota and purchased a Ford Bronco several years ago and has been involved in the lifesytle of offroading and offroad fabrication ever since. Email Jack
